Workshop

From the moon to the throat with Sorour Darabi

This workshop it was about sharing exercises that could make participants appreciate (physical) vulnerability. Being fragile and powerful is something Sorour was always wishing to be. Thier work is always trying to put together things that seem impossible to gather. As a trans-body it is obvious for them, how essential it is to coexist with complexities, instead of simplifying our being to get accepted. “First time I put a big dildo in my anus and after some playtime, I felt my feet trembling. The sensation of what is vulnerable reminds me of the sensation of having my period on the day I begin to bleed”. In this workshop vulnerability is celebrated as the greatest power to cross all limits, all fears, all impossibilities, all norms.

Morning-Class

Contemporary & Urban with Raha Nejad

Wed, 13th jul, 10 a.m.-12 p.m., Studio 2

> Tickets

Thu, 14th jul, 10 a.m.-12 p.m., Studio 2

> Tickets

In this class Raha Nejad uses a variety of dance styles: commercial, contemporary and urban. She places special emphasis on teaching participants the freedom of dance and movement. Musicality, precision in the execution of movements and reflections about emotions while dancing are central aspects of the class. The class consists of freestyle sequences and a mix of choreography in diagonals through space.

Workshop

Force and its direction, pressure and its effectiveness with Ali Moini

Force, when exerted, contains a direction. This direction could be changed if another vessel of the force crosses its path. Pressure exerted by the force on an obstacle that is in its path does not follow the direction of the force because pressure has no direction. Force, on the other hand, exerts pressure on the obstacle until its energy runs out or the obstacle can no longer withstand the pressure. Participants will work on these and other issues in the workshop. They will apply them to body parts and their surroundings to investigate what qualities of movement emerge and what potential for composition they offer. Fiction and representation will be left out. They will experiment with creating different forces and obstacles to compose a system that holds bodies and that works as long as they endure. The way we tolerate or multiply the forces and pressure points within the system and how we make choices creates a platform in which to live and compose.

Morning-Class

Contemporary & Improvisation with Ulduz Ahmadzadeh

Fri, 15th jul, 10 a.m.-12 p.m., Studio 2

> Tickets

Sat, 16th jul, 10 a.m.-12 p.m., Studio 2

> Tickets

The purpose of this classes is to prepare the mind and body for a wide range of movements: various forms, qualities, and dynamics to create dancers’ unique plastique. Participants learn to control muscle tension, use the connection between center and limbs, distribute body weight correctly, and find the logic of movements in their bodies to create maximum movements with minimal effort. They will work with contraction/release techniques, swings, spirals, flow, isolations, manipulations and do improvisation exercises. In this classes is all about trusting the body, expressing thoughts and emotions through movement, interacting with space and enjoying the dance.

Workshop

Practicing Overflow – Memory, Spaces and Gestures of (Un)belonging with Kâmnoush Khosrovani

Since early 2018, Kâmnoush Khosrovani is deeply involved in a research-creation project in TanBaafi Lab, connecting anthropological investigation and embodied creative processes. “Practicing Overflow” is one of the participatory outcomes of this exploration.
In this workshop Kâmnoush will focus on the relationship and connectivity of participants as individuals and as groups, constantly including and excluding one and another. These emergent communities, “cells”, are lived in an ongoing process of composition and decomposition countering a hegemonic social background that reclaimes itself as “The Cell”. The embodied learning which is inherent to the lived experience of the cells and the passage between them and The Cell, require a fine knowledge and attuned attention regarding the range of possibilities and the impossibilities of the current social reality. Here the overflowing becomes a must-have skill to get creative with one’s individual and collective embodied experiences and to perform the joyful, nonchalant art of failing the hegemonic norms.
The workshop is open to every-body with or without disabilities and invites everyone to create an environment where overflowing can be explored as a way to support, encouragement, as well as to connect and react to the depth and complexity of their own and others needs and expressions.
